NEWBERRY – The Brimley Bays snapped a five-game losing streak, topping Newberry 47-23 on Friday night. The Bays improved to 2-5 on the season with the win, while the Indians fell to 0-6. Brimley travels to Pickford on Monday night, while Newberry is next in action on Wednesday at Sault Ste. Marie.    

BRIMLEY – The Brimley Bays ran their winning streak to three games with a resounding 73-48 win over Harbor Light Christian on Tuesday. The Bays, fresh off their sweep of games at the Carney-Nadeau Holiday Tournament, raced out to a quick 10-2 lead before the Swordsmen battled back to tie things up at 12 in the first quarter. RUDYARD – The Rudyard Bulldogs defended home court by sweeping Brimley in the district semifinals on Thursday night. Rudyard overcame a 13-3 deficit in the first set to win it 26-24. The Bulldogs won the next two sets by scores of 25-13 and 25-18. They’ll face Engadine in the district championship game on Saturday at 10 a.m.

PICKFORD – The Brimley Bays picked up an Eastern U.P. road victory over Pickford in volleyball on Thursday night. The Bays beat the Panthers by scores of 25-13 and 25-14 in the first two sets before Pickford responded with a 25-23 win in set three. Brimley closed it out in the fourth set with a 25-14 win. BRIMLEY – One of the Eastern U.P.’s top volleyball players has been invited to play in a tournament overseas next summer. Lindsey Hill, who plays for Brimley, was hand-picked by organizers of the “America’s Team.” They will be playing in Barcelona, Spain in July. Hill is a multi-sport athlete for the Bays whose mother, Beth Hill, is the head volleyball…

BRIMLEY – The Brimley Bays defended home court with a 3-1 win over Engadine on Tuesday night. Brimley won the first set 25-14 before Engadine turned the tables and took the set 25-19. The Bays responded with 25-14 and 25-9 wins in sets three and four to come away with the victory.

BRIMLEY – Brimley beat Pickford 3-1 in an Eastern U.P. volleyball match on Tuesday night. Brimley won the first set 25-11 before Pickford settled in and won the second set 25-18. The third and fourth sets were closer but Brimley came out on top each time, 25-19 and 25-22.  

CEDARVILLE – Cedarville-DeTour improved to 4-1 on the season with a 64-24 league win over Brimley on Friday. Cedarville-DeTour (4-1, 3-1) visits Rapid River next Friday while Brimley (1-4, 0-4) welcomes in Engadine.

BRIMLEY – The Brimley Bays earned a hard-fought win in five sets over the Cedarville-DeTour Islanders Thursday night. Cedarville-DeTour won the first set 27-25 but Brimley responded with a 25-18 win in set two. The Islanders returned the favor with a 25-16 win in set three before Brimley took the fourth and fifth sets — 25-11 and 15-7.  

BRIMLEY — The Rudyard Bulldogs took the final three sets over the Brimley Bays to win the volleyball match 3-1 on Tuesday. Brimley came out on top in set one (25-23) but Rudyard took off from there (25-23, 25-15, 25-23). BRIMLEY – The Brimley Bays swept Newberry in straight sets Thursday night. Before the game, Brimley recognized senior Lindsey Hill for recently passing the 1,000 career assists mark.
