An Old Mission Peninsula winery is changing one of its labels, temporarily, to support a good cause.

Bowers Harbor Vineyards wants to help out after Hurricane Ian hit Florida.  They’ll be giving $8 from every bottle of “Florida Strong” to relief efforts. The vineyard owner says the perfect choice for the fundraiser was their flagship wine, a Pinot Grigio, which has a citrus and tropical fruit aroma.

“It seemed like the natural wine to produce this particular label for. And it also goes really well with our climate in the summer time and the Florida residents’ climate in the wintertime,” Bowers Harbor Vineyards Owner Spencer Stegenga says.

Bowers Harbor Vineyards says so many of their customers have Florida connections, so they want to help out with relief efforts.  Stegenga cites many of their Wine Club members including a Florida restaurant owner who lost her business in the hurricane.

“The damage isn’t over yet so we’re going to probably keep this going for quite some time,” Stegenga says. “We really feel for them.”

Proceeds will go to the American Red Cross hurricane Ian relief fund. You can buy a bottle to support the cause at the winery on Old Mission Peninsula, or on their website, by . It sells for $19.
