It’s been five months since the Cadillac community lost beloved icon Pat Goggin to cancer.

This week, the Cadillac Chamber of Commerce came together to honor his memory.

Just outside the chamber’s front doors is a bench facing the water and a sign saying “Celebrating Pat Goggin – Captain of Cadillac”.

While the bench is outside the Chamber of Commerce, the project encompassed other areas Goggin was passionate about.

The Chamber Ambassadors program helped put the project together while CTC welding students created the sign.

“He was a light, he was the captain of Cadillac,” said Chamber of Commerce President Caitlyn Berard. “That bench really gives us not only a space to reflect, but also gives us a space to kind of be grounded.”

“One of his lines that he would say to so many people was, ‘I believe in you’, and that right there in those few words is how he carried on his life,” said Pat’s wife, Sally Goggin.

Goggin is honored for his work in the Cadillac community as the president of the Cadillac Area Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors, President for the Human Service Leadership Counsel, and Executive Director of the United Way of Wexford and Missaukee Counties.
