The Roscommon County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a murder suicide from over the weekend that left four people dead.

“This is a tough time. You know, when kids are involved in an incident like this it make it all that much worse than what it already was,” said Roscommon County Undersheriff Ben Lowe.

The bodies of four people were found in a home in Houghton Lake around 3:30 a.m. Sunday morning: 58-year-old Kim Ebright, Kim’s daughter, 35-year-old Tirany Savage, Tirany’s son, 13-year-old Dayton Cowdrey and 35-year-old Bo Savage.

The Roscommon County Sheriff’s Office is not confirming who they believe pulled the trigger.

“They all knew each other. They were all related some way or another, but I can’t discuss how it all fits together at this time. More information will be released later, but there’s still a lot of investigation,” stated Undersheriff Lowe.

Deputies say the bodies were found after two concerned friends came to check on them. The Michigan State Police Crime Lab is helping process evidence and autopsies are scheduled.

“I think it’s shocking to the community as a whole. Murders aren’t something that happen a lot up here in general, and when you have four people that pass away in one incident that’s a big shock to the community,” Undersheriff Lowe says.

A friend and neighbor of Tirany’s says their sons grew up together and were best friends. They say what happened Sunday was devastating.

“It’s unbelievable. You live in a family friendly neighborhood. All the kids play together, you make friends and you don’t think that stuff like this can happen in a neighborhood like this, and then it does and you realize it can happen to anyone,” they say.

While deputies continue to investigate, the community came together Monday evening for a vigil remembering the innocent lives lost.

“There is a lot of people in our community that are hurting right now, that are going through some really tough times and they  need the community to rally around them and help them get through the tough days they have ahead,” Undersheriff Lowe stated.
