Kids can fly for free this weekend in Sault Ste. Marie.

Young Eagles Day is Saturday, June 11 at Sanderson Field Airport from 8 a.m.- 1 p.m.

Passengers from ages 8-17 can fly thousands of feet up with local pilots.

Each flight is around 20 minutes.

Local pilots use their own plane, their own fuel, and volunteer their time, all to get kids interested in aviation.

“The program started in 1992, and as of this year, we have flown over 2.2 million students,” says airport manager, Tom Brown. “It’s our way to grow participation in the aviation field.”

Those who fly will get a certificate, and enter their name in the world’s largest pilot log book.
