MTM On the Road: Festival of Trains Prepares for Opening Weekend

The Festival of Trains has been a Traverse City tradition since 1991.

Every year people gather and bring their model trains for a giant swap event.

It was first created to raise money for the Traverse City Opera House but has grown and expanded over the years.

Around 6,000 people per year come to see all of these trains and train cars.

This year they are partnering with The Children’s Museum and holding the event at the First Christian Church of Traverse City.

They will have displays up until the end of the month.

For the weeks’ long event, for details.
