Man Dies In Manistee County Crash

The Manistee County Sheriff’s Office says a man has died following a motorcycle crash in Filer Township.

Deputies say Tuesday night, they responded to a personal injury crash at the intersection of Nelson Street and Stronach Road.

They say the caller advised Manistee County Central Dispatch that they observed a motorcycle traveling South on Nelson Street disregard the stop sign on Stronach Road. The driver of the motorcycle drove through the T intersection, hit the curb and crashed into a trailer that was parked in a business parking lot.

Deputies say the first deputy quickly arrived on scene and found the man unresponsive. Deputies and EMS personnel began live-saving measures, but those were unsuccessful.

The Sheriff’s Office says the driver of the motorcycle, who is identified has 34-year-old Jason Quick of Scottville, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Deputies say the preliminary investigation indicates that alcohol and speed were both factors in the crash.
