Habitat For Humanity Holding First Restore Challenge

The Habitat for Humanity Restore in Houghton Lake has a unique do-it-yourself project, making something new out of something old.

The restore is holding their first restore challenge now through October 15th.

All you have to do is use one or more items from the store and turn it into something new.

“Somebody donates a lamp they don’t want anymore. We get it in, you take it home and take the cord and this piece off and spray paint it whatever color you want,” said Lorinda Roberts, Executive Director of the Roscommon County Habitat for Humanity Restore. “Then you find a really cool bowl like this style or this style and you attach it and you have yourself a bird bath.”

The board of directors will vote on the most transformed item.

The winner will receive a $50 gift certificate to the store.

Once the challenge is over, customers can keep their restored item or donate it back to the store to be sold.

All of the money raised at the Habitat for Humanity Restore goes to help families in Roscommon County.
