City Opera House Announces January 2020 Events

The City Opera House in Traverse City is hosting events year-round to help you get involved and learning in 2020.

Melissa met with the marketing director, Kristi Dockter, to talk about some of their upcoming speakers and performers this January.

First up was the Martin Luther King Day Musical Remembrance on Monday, Jan. 20 at 7 p.m.

They will be featuring the Northwestern Michigan College Children’s Choir Cantus, the Chamber Singers & Canticum Novum, and the Northwestern Michigan College Jazz Big Band & lab Band.

The event is free!

Second is a number of speakers for Fulfillment, A Story Telling Event.

Five local community leaders will be taking the stage to tell about their personal journey towards fulfillment. They will give the audience a challenge and one person will win 500 dollars to help get their ideas rolling.

The storytellers include:

  • Temple Florip, Yen Yoga & Fitness
  • Nate Griswold, Inhabitect
  • Angie Morgan, Lead Star
  • Marc Alderman, Teacher, Musician
  • Heidi Thompson, Prout Financial

This event is on Jan. 22 at 7 p.m. and the tickets are 15 dollars online and 18 dollars at the door.

The third and final event is An Evening with Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn.

They are a married couple ready to share their thoughts and tips to the American working class.

Nicholas Kristof is a globe-trotting New York Times columnist and they have recently won a Pulitzer Prize for their work on “Tightrope: Americans Reaching for Hope”

General Admission

Premium Reserved Seating
$51 plus fees include one ticket and a hardcover copy of Tightrope: Americans Reaching for Hope
$81 includes two tickets and a hardcover copy of Tightrope: Americans Reaching for Hope

This performance is on Jan. 31 at 7 p.m.
