YMCA of Cadillac is LIVE to Talk About Halloween Candy Take-Back

9&10 Logo

It is estimated that 600 million pounds of candy is handed out each Halloween and kids are said to consume nearly 7,000 calories on this holiday.

That’s why YMCA of Cadillac is trying to take some of this candy back and limit the amount calories consumed for kids and their parents. They are focusing on a healthier and happier Halloween with limited tummy aches but still the same amount of fun.

We welcomes Paul and Mary to ‘the four’ to talk all about their Halloween buyback and how you can drop off your extra candy right after Halloween festivities. The take-back is happening Nov. 1 to 4 and if you turn in 1 pound of unwanted candy you can get one free day pass to the YMCA in Cadillac. They are partnering with Munson Hospital in Cadillac to promote happy and healthy lifestyles for kids.

They are encouraging families to still trick-or-treat, but instead of keeping all the candy, they want kids to sort through their favorites and get rid of the things they don’t want to limit their intake. Plus, a huge bonus is that all the candy turned in will be donated to active duty troops who are serving overseas and cannot celebrate Halloween with their families or enjoy some of their favorite sweets.
