A mother and her two sons are an inspiration to us all—bringing a whole lot of life to hospice patients.

Brook Pollington-Smith and her sons Marshall and Gavin are volunteers for Hospice of Michigan.

Mostly what they do is simple. They visit and chat with people.

But they say the experience is as big for them as it can be for the patients.

“I like seeing how happy they are when you walk in and say are you ready for a visit, do you want a visit?” Marshall says. “They get a giant smile on their face and are so excited to see you.”

Gavin says he really enjoys the deep conversations.

“It’s really nice to have older people tell me you should do this and you should do this,” he says. “Have people guide you.”
