A Hesperia High School teen is challenging cancer head on, but he’s not doing it alone.

Hesperia sophomore Connor VanBuskirk was recently diagnosed with stage four Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

His high school and community have gone above and beyond by helping him with this fight since his diagnosis.

Hesperia High School has become Connor strong. It’s all to support sophomore Connor VanBuskirk as he battles stage four Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

“We knew he was a special kid and he means a lot to us, and you hope and pray that your son means a lot to other people, but it’s definitely showed he means a lot to everyone,” said Connor’s mom Shelly Goins.

The school has become a command post for Team Connor. With students making care packages and even a video that’s been shared across social media.

“It shows that we’re a team. Our community is a team because everyone around matters here. We all show the love for each other and it just shows that even though we’re a small school, we have a lot of heart,” said Hesperia Senior Darby Banabery.

That video, inspiring other schools and communities to join Team Connor and help a young man who is deeply loved by so many.

“Connor is a great kid. He really would give the shirt off his back for anyone. He’s always one of the first to make people smile. He deserves all the love that he gets and everything that he’s getting right now. He’s been good to every one of us and we need to show our support back,” said Hesperia Senior Kanin Witte.

Connor’s mother says so far treatments are going as planned as the fight continues.

“It’s been very, very overwhelming. It’s been just remarkable. We believe there’s a will and there’s a way and Connor will succeed just believe,” said Goins.
