Village of Kingsley Discusses Medical Marijuana Plant Proposal

The village of Kingsley is delving deeper into discussions on the possibility of a medical marijuana manufacturing plant opening there.

The village planning commission held a meeting tonight to discuss the proposal that would allow Theracann to open its doors.

Some changes to the proposal’s language include more aggressive zoning distances, as well as requiring security fences to be taller.

If approved by the village council, the plant could create jobs in the community.

Commission members say it’s important to fine tune the language before it goes up for vote.

“This is what the planning commission does. We know these things for zoning, and to the general public it’s a little difficult to understand,” Holly Davis, Kingsley Planning Commission said.

A public hearing date has been set for May 24.
