Little Traverse Conservancy Plans to Expand Land Conservation Efforts in 2023

The Little Traverse Conservancy celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2022, and they show no signs of stopping.

The land conservancy started in 1972. They say the founding members came with a vision for protecting the landscape in a way that protected land for people instead of land from people.

Last year, they added 1,359 acres of permanent land conservation and six new trails. They also say they have big plans for the upcoming year.

“Many people know that we have a mountain bike-enhanced trail and our Tanton Family Working Forest Reserve near Petoskey,” “Kieran Fleming, the executive director for Little Traverse Conservation, said. “We’re working on another one near Harbor Springs and another one out by Indian River. And I hope that we can unveil those in the coming months.”

They are also working on a nature reserve complex in East Jordan.
