Grand Traverse County Recognized as One of Michigan’s Best Healthy Worksites

Grand Traverse County is excited to be a highly-ranked county for health and wellness.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services recognized the county as one of the best Michigan healthy worksites. They credit the award to a written health and wellness program approved in 2018.

The program is dedicated to improving Grand Traverse County workers’ health and wellness. This includes improvements like the Boardman Lake Loop and the National Fitness court.

The county says that even with the award, they still have improvements to make.

“We can always try to do better. People work out differently, people enjoy recreation differently. We’re trying to hit all those facets of recreation,” Nate Alger, the Grand Traverse County Administrator, said.

The county says the initiatives benefit both the employer and the employee.
