Cherryland Electric’s charitable fund recently gave $16,000 in grants to 5 local nonprofits: TCAPS, Area Agency On Aging 2022, BACN, Grand Traverse Industries and Tart Trails.
The funds for these grants came from members who chose to round up on their bills.
“they’re choosing to pay more on their electric bill in order to better their community, which is really, really cool when you look at that overall number and how much good they’re able to do in the community with that. ” Courtney Doyle, Communications and Marketing Specialist for Cherryland Electric Cooperative.
Last year, gave over $62,000 in grants. Since the campaign started in 2006, they have given out over $692,000 to local nonprofits.
