Manna Pantry’s ‘Stuff a Cop Car’ Food Drive This Saturday

There’s a great way to start spreading some holiday cheer this season happening in northern Michigan.

Big Rapids officers, Mecosta County deputies, and students from FSU’s 49th Law Enforcement Academy are teaming up for Manna Pantry’s “Stuff a Cop Car” Food Drive.

The event is happening this Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. Police vehicles will be stationed at Meijer, Aldi’s, and Walmart in Big Rapids

The goal is to collect non-perishable food items while people enter or exit the stores.

Last year they was able to collect over two tons of food, so they’re hoping for another successful year.

“With Thanksgiving coming up, we just chose this date because we thought it would be a good time for Manna Pantry to be stocked up and be ready for the Thanksgiving holiday rush,” says Officer William Sell, Big Rapids Department of Public Safety.

Suggested donations include canned fruits and vegetables, cereal, pasta, canned meats and fish, peanut butter, soup, side dishes, baby food, and gluten-free products.
