Downtown Charlevoix Wraps up ‘First Fridays’

Friday was the last of Charlevoix’s “First Fridays” event.

First Fridays of Charlevoix brings more people to businesses in the downtown area during the slower winter and early spring months. The event is held on the first Friday of each month from 3-6 p.m.

Random giveaways are held at many downtown businesses, along with activities in the Van Pelt and Hoop Skirt Alleys.

“When I talk to people that come, they’re usually from Traverse City,” said Charlevoix Main Street Downtown Development Authority Director Lindsey Dotson “We’ve had people from Rodger City and Alpena come over, which is kind of hard to believe, but hey, apparently there’s not a ton of things happening on Fridays during certain months of the year, so we’re happy to be that thing for them.”

During First Fridays, visitors can participate in cornhole games, a scavenger hunt and listen to music along Bridge Street.

First Fridays will return the first Friday of January 2023.
