What’s Next?: The Dish Cafe Closing Their Doors After 15 Years

After 15 years of serving hungry diners, The Dish Cafe has closed it’s doors.

The Dish Cafe sits just off Front Street at 208 South Union Street. The Dish was opened by husband-and-wife-duo, Patty and Randy in 2007. Since then The Dish has served thousands of locals and people from all around the world right in the heart of downtown Traverse City.

The Traverse City Downtown Development Authority CEO, Jean Derenzy, says Patty and Randy deserve the best. She says The Dish was a, “great steward in downtown Traverse City.”

“They brought such vitality to that section of our great downtown. After 15 years there’s always an emotional connection. We are a big family when it comes to Traverse City. We’re going to miss them, but we wish them all the success and happiness after such hard-work in that 15 years,” Derenzy says.

Although Friday is the last day for The Dish, the building won’t stay vacant for long. The Downtown Development Authority says a new restaurant will be moving in.

The new restaurant plans to open by July or September.

“It’s one that will fit very nicely in the fabric of that area,” Derenzy states.
