Petoskey Woman Gets Probation After Attempting to Access Voting Machine

In exchange for dropping two felony charges, an Petoskey woman has taken a plea deal for a misdemeanor surrounding an attempt to access a voting machine.

In Jan. 2021, Tera Jackson claimed to a Cross Village Township employee that she was working with a governmental agency, collecting data from machines across the state.

Later, the the Emmet County Sheriff’s Office was called to a possible break in where the machine was being stored.

Jackson told a deputy she wanted a copy of the voting records, believing what it showed would prove voter fraud had occurred in the U.S.

Jackson was originally charged with one count of common law fraud and one count of unauthorized computer access, but instead, she pleaded no contest to disturbing the peace, a misdemeanor, and was ordered to serve 90 days probation.
