A 28-year-old Frankfort man was killed in a fireworks explosion on Crystal Lake Tuesday night.
According to the Benzie County Sheriff’s Office, a small group gathered around 10 p.m. Tuesday on the ice at Crystal Lake near Bellows Road in Frankfort where fireworks were to be set off to honor a deceased friend.
The 28-year-old man who lit one of the fireworks was killed after the firework exploded.
A second individual, a 27-year-old Frankfort man, was critically injured and flown to a Grand Rapids hospital for treatment.
