The governor of Colorado is reviewing a request for clemency for a man sentenced to 110 years in prison.

Truck driver Rogel Aguilera-Mederos was given the minimum sentence on Tuesday for four counts of vehicular homicide and 23 other charges for a crash that killed four people back in 2019.

Aguilera-Mederos, who was 23 at the time, claims the brakes failed as he was driving out of the mountains and he could not pull over to avoid stopped traffic.

Video evidence shows he passed a runaway truck ramp where prosecutors argue he could have pulled off.

The 110-year sentence has caused a stir among truck drivers, with some saying on social media they plan to boycott driving in Colorado.

More than 4 million drivers have signed an online petition asking for the governor to reduce Aguilera-Mederos’ sentence.
