Hook and Hunting: DNR Asking For “Toys for Tots” Donations

As the holidays begin, the DNR kicked off their annual “Stuff A Truck” toy collection effort.

The statewide donation event takes place throughout the next few weeks. In Northern Michigan, people can donate at Sportsman’s Warehouse in Traverse City and Jay’s Sporting Goods in Clare and Gaylord. The goal of the event is to stuff as many toys as possible into the back of a DNR patrol truck.

The donated toys will then be gifted to children throughout Michigan to ensure they have more to open on Christmas. The DNR asks that all toys are new and unwrapped.

“Conservation officers, we live within our communities and we have a strong bond with those communities,” said Lt. Joe Molnar. “We have a desire to help try to make everyone’s life a bit better.”

• DNR Outdoor Adventure Center, 1801 Atwater St., Detroit (toys will be collected curbside and donated to the Detroit Police Department’s Sergeant Santa program).

  • Sunday, Dec. 5, noon-4 p.m.

• Jay’s Sporting Goods, 1151 S. Otsego Ave., Gaylord (toys will be donated to the Gaylord Toys for Tots).
