The Mason County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal house fire in Sheridan Township.
Emergency crews responded to a structure fire on North Morse Road around 9:10 a.m. Monday. A passing motorist reported the fire to the Mason/Oceana 911 Center.
The sheriff’s office has identified the person who resided at the residence and has been working closely with the family. The identity is being withheld until verified by the medical examiner’s office.
The case remains under investigation. The Michigan State Police Fire Marshall’s Division is assisting the sheriff’s office in the investigation.
Fire agencies from Fountain Area, Branch, Custer and Free Soil as well as a ladder truck from the Pere Marquette Township Fire Department responded to the scene.
