District Health Department #10 Offering Flu Clinics

District Health Department #10 is helping communities in northern Michigan prepare for the flu season by offering flu vaccines to kids, adults and seniors.

They say flu season is unpredictable, and with the coronavirus continuing to spread, it is more important than ever to protect yourself and your family against the flu by getting your annual flu shot.

DHD#10 will be offering the flu vaccine, along with the COVID-19 vaccine, at the following locations:

    • Kalkaska Public Library: 247 S. Cedar Street, Kalkaska, MI 49646. November 4, 2021, 1:00pm-3:00pm
    • Lake City – City Offices: 115 W. John Street, Lake City, MI 49651. November 4, 2021, 8:00am – 10:00am
    • People’s Church: 115 W. Loomis Street, Ludington, MI 49431. November 3, 2021, 1:00pm-3:00pm
    • Manton Senior Center: 302 W. Main Street, Manton, MI 49663. November 3, 2021, 9:00am-11:00am

The cost of the flu vaccine without insurance is $37. High dose and preservative-free vaccines are available for $46. The coronavirus vaccine is free.

DHD#10 asks that individuals bring their insurance cards and driver’s licenses when attending the clinics.

They say many health insurance plans cover the cost of flu vaccines, but if not, DHD#10 may be able to help through Vaccines for Children (VFC) or other programs.

According to the health department, they can bill the following:: Medicare (only billed for flu, pneumococcal, or PCV13 shots), Medicare Health Plans (only billed for flu, pneumococcal, or PCV13 shots), Medicaid, Medicaid Health Plans, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Blue Care Network (excludes Mercy partnered plans), Priority Health, McLaren Commercial, ASR, United Health Care, and TRICARE with an insurance card present at the time of appointment.

They say it is important to be aware of your insurance benefit rules.

If you are unable to attend one of the above clinics, you can schedule your flu vaccine or COVID-19 vaccine by calling 888-217-3904.
