Motorcyclist Dies in Midland Co. Crash

The Midland County Sheriff’s Office says a Gladwin County motorcyclist has died following a crash in Midland County.

Deputies say on Monday, Sept. 27 around 7:38 p.m., they responded and investigated a two vehicle crash at the intersection of North Eastman Road and East Schneider Court in Larkin Township.

Deputies say their investigation indicated that a maroon 2012 Harley Davidson motorcycle operated by 44-year-old Jason Gransden of Gladwin County was traveling North on North Eastman Road while a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado driven by a 29-year-old Midland County man was traveling Southbound.

They say the driver of the Silverado failed to yield to the right of way to Gransden’s motorcycle by attempting to turn left into a private business parking lot in front of Gransden. Deputies say the Silverado was struck on the front passenger’s side by the motorcycle.

Deputies say Gransden was thrown from his motorcycle, and was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The front airbag deployed in the Silverado.

Gransden was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. He died on Sunday due to injuries sustained in the crash. The driver of the Silverado was uninjured.

Currently, the Midland County Sheriff’s Office is awaiting toxicology reports to determine whether or not alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash, as is standard procedure.

They say the report will be forwarded to the Midland County Prosecutor’s Office for review once it has been completed.
