Antigen Testing Offered to Reed City Residents

The Central Michigan District Health Department, in partnership with Reed City Area Public Schools, offered antigen testing to the community Thursday.

The testing was in response to the increase in Covid-19 cases within the school district.

Antigen testing takes about 15 minutes, and detects the virus that’s in Covid-19.

These tests are geared toward people who may not be showing symptoms.

“It’s very difficult to buy an antigen test right now,” said Superintendent Mike Sweet. “You can’t find them, it takes forever to get you into the doctors, so this was a way to provide a service to the schools and the community.”

Sweet says this was a way for them to offer a service to the community.

“It’s a way at least to get a read in the community and a service that the school can provide in combination with the health department to help people get information,” said Sweet.

More than 50 people showed up to get tested at the school.
