Central Lake Man Charged With Attempting to Pass Counterfeit Money, Possession of Meth

A Central Lake man is facing charges of attempting to pass counterfeit money, possession of meth and resisting and obstructing a police officer.

Deputies from the Mason County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a person attempting to pass a counterfeit $100 bill at the Murphy Gas Station in Pere Marquette Township Tuesday morning.

A deputy located the suspect vehicle in business parking lot and made contact with the two occupants to investigate the alleged counterfeit money complaint. During the investigation the male subject struggled with two deputies which resulted in one deputy receiving an injury to his hand. The deputy was treated at a local hospital.

The man was lodged on charges of attempt to pass counterfeit money, possession of meth and two counts of resisting and obstructing a police officer. A 33-year-old female from Central Lake was also lodged on a charge of disorderly person. Both are currently lodged in the Mason County Jail.
