Blistering Heat On West Coast Fueling Wildfires In California

Excessive heat and dry conditions are fueling more than 55 major wildfires out west.

One of them, the Beckwourth Complex fire in northern California, doubled in size over the weekend.

The flames destroyed several houses and buildings

Officials say it’s the largest wildfire California has had this year and more than 1,200 firefighters are working to battle the flames.

Over the weekend it hit 120 degrees in Joshua Tree National Park and 130 degrees in Death Valley, both in California.

Additional emergency orders were put in place in Washington and Oregon mandating access to shade, water and breaks for anyone working outdoors.
