Cadillac’s Up North Arts unveiled the newest addition to their center focused on kids.

The Children’s Center will host classes for those 5-16 years old for different art medias like painting, origami, and felting.

Up North Arts used the money from their tile painting fundraiser, and a grant from Avon, to open and furnish the space.

The center says this space is greatly needed in the Cadillac community.

“The art programs right now that are out there for the kids are very limited,” said Tim Florinki, President of Up North Arts. “We had so many children that were learning from home and not at school. That created a huge need.”

Up North Arts is also planning to offer after school classes in collaboration with Cadillac Area Public Schools starting in the fall.

Their next fundraiser will be a “Yart Sale”, in place of their annual art show. They are looking for donations of gently used art, art supplies, and equipment for the sale, which will take place on Saturday, July 17 from 10 to 3.
