Florida Kids Who Shot At Police Charged With Attempted Murder

Two children in Florida are being charged with attempted murder of a law enforcement officer and armed burglary.

Sheriff’s deputies say a 14-year-old girl and 12-year-old boy opened fire at officers Tuesday night.

They ran off from a group home and broke into a house that had weapons, including an AK-47 and a shotgun, that were used against deputies.

The deputies say they had to dodge bullets and hide behind trees or patrol cars as the kids fired shots at them.

The boy talked to investigators after being caught, telling them he knew he was shooting at cops and that “he wanted to harm them.”

Deputies say the boy did not have a previous criminal history.

The girl, who was injured by return fire from deputies, was arrested in 2018 for stealing a dog.

She was also arrested in April for setting a series of fires that briefly threatened homes and burned a fence.
