May is Michigan Wine Month.

Courtney Sheffer from the West Michigan Tourist Association has the details in this week’s What’s Happening in Northern Michigan.

Shady Lane Cellars – Wine Social

Shady Lane Cellars in Suttons Bay has their annual Wine Social coming up on May 29th, where you’ll be treated to small bites and wine pairings accompanied by live music. They’ll have socially-distanced wine and food stations set up in their beautiful outdoor space, making this a great way to kick off your Memorial Weekend. You’ll want to contact Shady Lane Cellars ahead of time to reserve your space for this event.

“Traverse City Uncorked” Wine Event

The Traverse City area is celebrating Michigan Wine Month throughout all of May with a special edition of “Traverse City Uncorked.” You’re invited to download the free digital passport to your phone, and then use it to check in at the many wineries in the region for discounts, special offers, and a chance to win prizes. You’ll find special lodging packages as well, if you’d like to turn your wine tasting into a weekend getaway.

Boyne Valley Vineyard – Relay for Life Event

You can get outdoors, explore, and enjoy a glass of wine, all for a good cause this weekend! The Chain of Lakes Relay for Life is holding an outdoor Scavenger Hunt on May 16th, and the hunt begins and ends at Boyne Valley Vineyards in Petoskey. The hunt will take you through the neighboring nature preserve’s trails, with scheduled start times to space teams out. After the hunt, Boyne Valley Vineyards is a great place to enjoy a glass of wine on the patio or lawn, or stop in their tasting room for samples to find your new favorite.
