Bay Mills Indian Community Banishes Enbridge Operations in the Great Lakes

Bay Mills Indian Community has decided to banish Enbridge from operating Line 5 in the Great Lakes.

In a press release they say the risks of a leak in the waterways would be devastating to their ability to fish as well as the environment as whole. They say banishment isn’t taken lightly and is only authorized when egregious acts and misconduct have harmed their citizens, treaty rights, territories, and resources.

The Bay Mills executive council is requesting surrounding tribes, Michigan, and the United States to mandate and enforce the banishment.
