There’s a Detroit-based creative group that is making their way up to Northern Michigan with their ‘billboard campaign’, and the goal is to create connections throughout the mitten with community art.

SaveArtSpace will be using the billboards along US-2 between St. Ignace & Manistique starting June 22nd – for at least one month – to display submitted artwork from the people of the Upper Peninsula.

“SaveArtSpace transforms advertisement space into public art by and for the local community. Providing artists opportunities to display their work in the public space. Creating an urban gallery experience, we aim to affect and inspire a new generation of artists.”

The project is open to any age and skill level, and all the due date for all submissions are by May 15th. There is a fee of $10 per submission that will go towards displaying the artwork.
