AG Nessel Sends Letter of Guidance to Law Enforcement on Enforcing Executive Orders

Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel confirmed to local law enforcement across the state that Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s executive orders are valid and should be enforced.

The attorney general’s office says even though the Legislature didn’t extend the governor’s state of emergency last week, the orders to stay at home and keep public places like bars and restaurants closed are enforceable.

Nessel asked local law enforcement to keep enforcing the orders, because the restrictions “remain necessary to protect the lives of all Michiganders.”
