Traveling the world is something a lot of us are waiting to check off our bucket lists, but what if you had the chance to fully immerse yourself into a culture in high school?

We are LIVE with Rotary Club of Traverse City on ‘the four’ to meet two students from across the world that are enjoying their experience here in the United States.

Carla Weaver from the Rotary Club brought with her Anna Bottura from Italy and Arthur Ribiero from Brazil.

Students spend one full year abroad to learn about different cultures and meet global citizens in a more intimate way by living with multiple foreign families. There are so many benefits to studying abroad which include:

  • Develop lifelong leadership skills
  • Learn a new language and culture
  • Build lasting friendships with young people from around the world
  • Become a global citizen

Many families are concerned about the cost of studying abroad and here is the break-down:

  • Round-trip airfare
  • Travel insurance
  • Travel documents (such as passports and visas)
  • Spending money and any additional travel or tours

Each adventure varies and room and board are included.

Candidates must be between the ages of 15- and 19-years-old and are leaders within their community and school.
