Congress is pushing President Trump’s Administration to release a study on a waterway structure that would prevent Asian carp from reaching the Great Lakes.
Congress expects the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to release the report included in the budget agreement announced Monday.
It involves a possible upgrade to the Brandon Road Lock and Dam near Chicago, which is a choke point between the carp-infested Illinois River and Lake Michigan.
Some lawmaker’s from Illinois and Indiana have warned against doing anything that would cause problems for commercial shipping in the area.
