Charlevoix County Murder Trial: Jury Deliberations Begin

Jury deliberations started Thursday in a Charlevoix County murder trial.

A man is accused of stabbing his friend to death.

Matthew Fruge is on trial for the murder of Jacob Conklin.

It happened in 2015, outside Fruge’s Bay Township house.

Thursday, closing arguments took more than three hours.

The Charlevoix County prosecutor again asked the jury to return a verdict of guilty of first-degree murder.

The jury will also consider manslaughter, second-degree murder and the insanity defense.

Fruge’s attorney argues that Fruge is not guilty by reason of insanity, saying he was insane at the time of the killing.

Jury deliberation begins Thursday.
