Republicans Won’t Vote To Close Pensions To New Teachers

An update on moves to close pensions to new teachers.

Republicans in the Michigan Senate will not vote this year on the legislation.

The bill barely cleared a Republican led committee last week, then hit opposition in the full chamber.

The plan would have provided new school employees with only a 401-k in retirement.

It could still be brought back to the table when the new Legislature starts its two-year term in January.
