Leelanau School Reacts To Fake Shooting Report During Armed Bank Robbery
During Wednesday’s armed bank robbery in Empire, a call was also made to central dispatch about a shooting at the Leelanau School.
The sheriff’s call says it was most likely a diversion, and the sheriff’s office didn’t fall for it.
The school says they’re thankful no one was hurt and they have safety drills in place.
“The best course of action is we remain vigilant to make sure we can keep everything safe, and that we can keep it operational and still monitor the activity that’s in our area,” says J.D. Friley, head of the Leelanau school.
The school says they also let all parents know what was going on.
