Ludington Man Has Camera Bag Stolen…But Loses More Than Equipment

“You always think it’s never going to be me…and then this time it was me,” says Jason Miney, owner of Jason Miney Photography.

A camera stolen…but the thief took more than just equipment.

A Ludington man’s pickup truck was broken in to Saturday evening off Ludington avenue.

A camera bag was taken with a 15,000 dollar camera inside.

9&10’s Megan Atwood spoke with the owner who says it’s not the camera he’s upset about losing—it’s the pictures it holds.

“By the time I got to my truck at 3 o’clock to make my way home, I noticed that my camera bag was missing,” says Jason Miney.

Jason Miney has owned this photography gallery in Ludington since 2006.

A camera bag was stolen from his truck Saturday afternoon.

But he says it’s the not the camera he wants back– its the memories of his brother, Brad.

Miney continues, “A million things going through my mind because my brother had just passed. So I’m still not quite right. Until you lose a sibling I guess you never know.”

Brad’s battle with cancer started when he was five years old, until he passed in July.

“My family is… Is doing what is to be expected when you lose a loved one,” Miney goes on to say.

Jason says while the memories of his brother will last forever…

“It kind of makes me happy that I’m in photography because I realize how much more important it is to capture these memories and to be able to keep that.”

The camera, he still hopes can be found, and the pictures stolen from him, returned.

“I mean I’ll always have memories of him and of his final month here and such. My biggest concern is just getting the things back,” he says.

Mason County deputies are continuing the investigation by looking through nearby security cameras.
