Gladwin Combine Fire Burns Through Field, Re-Kindles Next Morning

A near-disaster in a Northern Michigan wheat field that kept fire fighters busy not once…but twice.

Gladwin Urban & Rural Fire Department crews say a wheat combine caught fire in a field on Hockaday Road on Friday night.

It then spread out, forcing crews to close the road between Eaton and Lechner Roads.

Fire fighters say they were able to contain the flames, but it re-kindled Saturday morning morning.

This is the damage that was left behind.

First responders say thankfully, no one was hurt.
