Mount Pleasant Remembers the Legend of Clarence Tuma

“To me, he was my dad. He was my partner, I worked with him for 40 years in the restaurant business when we had the Embers,” says Jeff Tuma, son of Clarence Tuma.

A 91 year old Mount Pleasant man passes and the community is remembering his legend.

To say Clarence Tuma was a man of many talents is an understatement.

Many in the Mount Pleasant community are remembering the life of Tuma– after his passing Thursday afternoon.

From serving in world war two, to owning a restaurant, raising a family and even writing a book– many say Tuma’s kindness had the ability to wrap in everyone.

His restaurant in Mount Pleasant ‘The Embers’ was famous for its one pound pork chop.

The CMU alum was known to be a man of such a giving nature.

“They didn’t call him Clarence Tuma…they called him CT. That was his nickname, that’s what we all called him. He went at things with such a passion that he just kind of overtook whatever it was that he tried to do,” Jeff goes on.

Clarence Tuma’s visitation will be held in Mount Pleasant at the Rowley Funeral Home on Sunday and Monday…Followed by a service at First Presbyterian Church on Tuesday.
