It’s a project a local children’s museum’s been working on for a long time.
Now kids will get the chance to head outside.
This is a first look at the Mt. Pleasant Discovery Museum’s latest attraction — Friendship Field.
It nearly doubles the museum’s size.
Kids will be able to use a new outdoor stage, a dinosaur fossil dig, and a messy-but-fun mud-pie kitchen…amongst other attractions.
It’s all possible with the help of a consumers energy grant and the community’s help.
"It’s been a lot of hours and a lot of planning and a lot of time put into it," says Heather Prout, Discovery Museum Executive Director. "The community has been waiting for quite a while now so we are very excited to be able to introduce a new portion of the museum."
The grand opening starts at 5 p.m. for the general public tomorrow afternoon and goes until 7 p.m.
There will be live music and food trucks.
It costs the normal admission price of $7.
