Fox Topix: Zookeepers Kill Gorilla

Do you think the Cincinnati Zoo did the right thing by killing a gorilla after a 3 year old boy fell into his habitat?

On Saturday, zookeepers shot and killed a rare 17 year old silverback gorilla after a 3 year old boy slipped into its habitat enclosure.

According to the zoo – the boy went under a rail, through wires, and over a moat wall to get into the enclosure. Video from witnesses show the gorilla, Harambe, dragging the child through the water.

The decision has since triggered controversy over who is to blame for Harambe’s death.

Some think zookeepers should’ve tranquilized the animal instead of shooting him, but the zoo says that may have further agitated Harambe and put the boy in more danger.

Others support the zoo’s decision saying that a child’s life was at stake.

While those who disagree say the boy’s parents are to blame for not looking after him better. Some have even started online petitions seeking charges against the mother.

This morning the Cincinnati Zoo says while they do not take the shooting of Harambe lightly, they do not regret their decision.

For today’s Fox Topix we want to know – do you think the Cincinnati Zoo did the right thing by killing Harambe? Why or why not?
