Michigan State Police have arrested a 24-year-old Cheboygan man after he allegedly sexually assaulted a minor in the victim’s bedroom.

Troopers from the Gaylord Post were notified by a mandated reporter of an alleged sexual assault of a minor. During their investigation, they found that Samuel Stewart allegedly sexually assaulted a minor the evening before the victim reported it to officials.

They turned a report over to the Cheboygan County Prosecutor’s Office before an arrest warrant was authorized. On Nov. 24, Stewart was arrested and lodged in the Cheboygan County Jail.

Stewart was arraigned Monday for one count Criminal Sexual Conduct Second Degree Victim Under 13, one count Assault with intent to do Great Bodily Harm and one count Accosting Children for Immoral Purposes.

His bond was set at $10,000 cash surety.
