New Chippewa Co. International Airport Terminal Opens Its Doors

The Chippewa County International Airport in Kinross opened its doors to the general public at the new general aviation terminal on Thursday.

In 2020, the airport finally received a federal grant to help with the majority of the building’s $6.5 million cost. The grant covered all but $1 million of that.

“Aviation seems so vast, but it is a tight-knit community and a lot of pilots will talk to each other and the word of mouth will bring folks in to as well,” says Tami Beseau, airport manager. “We were doing very well with the old building. This is going to entice folks to come here as well.”

The terminal also houses the Chippewa County Economic Development Corporation and international customs.
