The confidential tip line OK2Say has seen an uptick in tips received since the Oxford High School shooting.

According to OK2Say, last year, they received 3,743 tips.

Between Nov. 30 and Dec. 10, they’ve almost reached last year’s total number with 2,951 tips.

The Michigan State Police OK2Say Team Lead says they do tend to see an increase in tips—especially after a shooting tragedy.

“People are just afraid and wanting to make sure that they’re doing their due diligence and helping out their community and sharing more with us,” said Det./Sgt. Carlos Fossati.

Det./Sgt. Carlos Fossati says no tip is ever a waste of time, and it could lead to help stop a potential incident.

“Any little bit of information we’ll certainly take, as long as it’s not malicious or a prank, you’re not going to get in any kind of trouble,” he said. “The piece of the puzzle that you hold maybe opens up the entire case in your community and for someone in need.”
