Newaygo County Sheriff’s Office Searching For Suspect Following Vehicle Pursuit, Crash

UPDATE:

The Newaygo County Sheriff’s Office says the suspect in a vehicle pursuit and crash from early Thursday afternoon has been arrested.

At about 1:50 p.m., deputies from the Newaygo County Sheriff’s Office attempted to stop a black Pontiac Grad Prix for multiple vehicle violations on E. 88th Street (M-82) near South Beech Avenue in Croton Township.

The black Pontiac Grand Prix failed to stop for deputies, and during the pursuit, the driver rammed into a Sheriff’s Office patrol truck.

Deputies say the car ended up crashing into the woods on M-82 near South Newcosta Avenue, and the driver took off into the woods.

They say multiple police K-9 teams assisted with the search, and the 36-year-old Gaylord man was arrested four hours later.

The man faces multiple felony and misdemeanor charges out of the Newaygo County Sheriff’s Office.

He is also wanted out of MSP Hart, Otsego County Sheriff’s Office, MSP SANE and Montcalm County Sheriff’s Office.

 

The Newaygo County Sheriff’s Office is currently searching in the area of Newcosta Avenue and M-82 near Reynolds Township for a vehicle pursuit suspect who fled on foot after a crash.

They say the man is wearing a white tank top and blue jeans. He has tattoos down both of his arms and has short, brown hair.

The Newaygo County Sheriff’s Office is currently being assisted by the Michigan State Police, Newaygo Police Department and Michigan DNR.
