Beal City Tops Fremont 5-2 in Baseball

MT. PLEASANT – The Beal City baseball team beat Fremont 5-2 on Saturday morning, extending the team’s winning streak to 15 games.

The game was part of the Aggie Invite in which Beal City hosted Fremont and Birch Run. The championship game between Beal City and Birch Run was called off in the middle of the fourth inning due to rain.

In the second inning against Fremont, Wade Wilson’s RBI single gave the Aggies a 2-0 lead.

Beal City’s Brendan Martin was cruising on the mound but the Packers finally got to him when Gabe VanVleet smacked a two-run double down the left field line with two outs in the sixth inning.

Beal City responded with three runs in the bottom of the sixth to retake control. The Aggies’ Cayden Smith shut the door with three straight strikeouts in the top of the seventh.

Fremont’s next games will be on Tuesday night when the Packers host Reed City for a doubleheader.

Beal City will host Pine River on Tuesday night.
